La Crescenta

Location

Located at the Foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains and part of the Crescenta Valley, La Crescenta is bordered by La Cañada, Glendale, Tujunga and Montrose. The 91214 zip code is collectively known as La Crescenta, however, a portion (generally between Lowell and Pennsylvania) is the Glendale Annex (City of Glendale). La Crescenta (the other portion of the 91214 zip-code) generally starts East of Pennsylvania and is unincorporated as part of the Los Angeles County. This area is also referred to as La Crescenta-Montrose, which includes the unincorporated area of Montrose (91020). About La Crescenta

Today, La Crescenta remains an alternative to the hustle and bustle of the City of Los Angeles - yet La Crescenta is so conveniently located to the City. Foothill Boulevard, like many of the Foothill Communities along the South end of the San Gabriel Mountains, is home to most of the commerce for La Crescenta. With a large percentage of single-family homes and high-ranking schools, it's no surprise that residents find it so appealing. Referred to as The Crescenta Valley Schools, La Crescenta's high-ranking schools are part of the Glendale Unified School District.

Bit of History

In the early 1880's, La Cresenta began it's development, due to its ideal climate. The Crescenta Valley became a prime spot for resort homes, horticulture, health clinics and sanitariums. Much of the charm and character of La Crescenta is reflected in these historical beginnings. Characteristics such as stonewalls and a hunting lodge type properties are still found around La Crescenta.
